How to Submit Your Sitemap to Google

How to Submit Your Sitemap to Google

A sitemap tells Google every page on your website. Submitting it ensures your new blog posts and service pages get indexed quickly. Here's the step-by-step.

What Is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is an XML file that lists every page on your website with metadata like last updated date and priority. Google uses it to discover and crawl your content efficiently.

Step 1: Find Your Sitemap URL

Your CoolerDesk site automatically generates a sitemap. The URL is typically:

https://[yourdomain].com/sitemap.xml

or if you're using a CoolerDesk subdomain:

https://[yourcompany].coolerdesk.com/sitemap.xml

Step 2: Set Up Google Search Console

If you haven't already:

1. Go to search.google.com/search-console

2. Add your domain or URL prefix

3. Verify ownership (CoolerDesk support can help with verification)

Step 3: Submit Your Sitemap

1. In Search Console, go to "Sitemaps"

2. Enter your sitemap URL: sitemap.xml

3. Click "Submit"

4. Google will show the status: "Success" or any errors

Step 4: Monitor Indexing

After submission, check:

What Pages Should Be in Your Sitemap

What Should NOT Be in Your Sitemap

Keeping Your Sitemap Fresh

CoolerDesk automatically updates your sitemap when you add new pages or blog posts. You don't need to resubmit unless Google stops crawling. A good practice is to check Search Console monthly to ensure all your new pages are indexed.
